Location

Transportation by truck and railway are easily accessible with the benefits of two major highways that bisect the county, two ports of entry into Canada, and two national rail lines, Burlington Northern-Santa Fe and Union Pacific. A general aviation airfield capable of handling small aircraft is surrounded by prime industrial/commercial real estate. Business travelers are able to make connections to every major U.S. destination from Spokane, Washington’s International Airport, located approximately 90 miles southwest of Bonners Ferry.

Forming an Alliance

Boundary County, City of Bonners Ferry, City of Moyie Springs, Kootenai Tribe of Idaho and Boundary County School District formed an alliance in 2001 to promote this beautiful region as the most advantageous place to do business. The Boundary Economic Development Council has received funding to conduct community infrastructure projects totaling over $5 million dollars since that time.

Population

Boundary County continues to experience a healthy growth rate. Between 2000 and 2005, Boundary County’s population increased by 9.73 percent. The median age is 38.

The county has a population just under 11,000 people. Bonners Ferry houses 2,725 of those residents. Our community prides itself in being a modern community with old-fashioned values. The people are hard-working, highly motivated, and dedicated people who have resided here for generations. A good balance of old timers and new arrivals.

The Outdoors

Boundary County is not only a great place to do business, but a great place to live and recreate. Outdoor recreation is unlimited here, with an abundant amount of rivers, lakes, waterfalls, and mountains. It is the perfect place to fish, hunt, hike, camp, canoe, kayak, snowmobile, and mountain bike. Because of our prime location, we are within close proximity to many ski and golf resorts in Idaho, Montana, Washington, and Canada. Bonners Ferry also has its own municipal golf course to enjoy during summer months.
